Study on the impacts of Accommodations and supports in Workplace - Focused on the Employees with Disabilities

Abstract
The job retention and job satisfaction is one of the quality evaluations on the job condition nd preconditions to facilitate normalization and social integration. As the paradigm on the disability concept shifts, environmental resonable accommodations which results in successful employment and integration have emerged as significant factors.
This study examined the factors affecting on the job retention and satisfaction for the employees with disabilities. Focused on the individual, impairment, environmental factors, this study analyzed the impacts of environmental factors that consist of workplace facility accommodation, supports in relation to task adjustment, performance and discriminatory circumstances.
A ¡¯2008 Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled¡¯ was used, study objects were the employees with disabilities. Data were analyzed using logistic regression and multiple regression.
The results of logistic regression were as follows. Age, pay level, the supports which relevant to task performance appeared to influence on the job retention for workers with disabilities. The results of multiple regression reported that sex, education level, pay level, residence region, impairment level, workplace facility accommodation, supports in relation to task adjustment, flexible duty hours and discriminatory circumstances influenced on the job satisfaction.
Based on these results, the systematic policy to reform environment need to accommodate and support in workplace. ¡°the Disability Discrimination Act¡± have to be used practically and we must improve on the public awareness to discriminate against disability. For these, the institutions and experts in charge of vocational rehabilitation service have to change focusing from direct services to indirect services.
